Gratitude and Exciting Updates from The Wild Crumb Community

I want to start by expressing my heartfelt thanks to every one of you in The Wild Crumb community. Your support means everything to me. Without your encouragement and enthusiasm, The Wild Crumb would not exist. It’s your passion for delicious, gluten-free baked goods that drives me every day to create and share. Today, I’m excited to share some important updates about life off the grid, new baking adventures, and some fresh ways to connect with you all.

Living Off Grid and New Wood Heater Installation

Living off grid has been a rewarding challenge. It requires adapting to nature’s rhythms and finding creative solutions to everyday needs. One of the biggest recent changes is the installation of a new wood heater in our coyyage. This heater is a game changer because it provides a consistent temperature, which is essential for Tasmania winter and a healthy sourdough strater.

Improving Sourdough Starter Health

Before the wood heater installation, the temperature fluctuated too much, making it difficult to keep my sourdough starter alive and thriving. Now, with the steady warmth from the wood heater, I can nurture my starter back to life. This means I’m ready to bring back one of my favorite baking projects: gluten-free sourdough bread.

Getting Back to Baking

With my sourdough starter healthy again, I look forward to experimenting with different recipes and techniques to create delicious gluten-free sourdough bread.

The consistent heat allows the natural fermentation process to work perfectly, resulting in bread that is not only delicious but also has that wonderful tang and texture sourdough lovers crave. I have some fantastic recipes lined up that I can’t wait to share with you all soon.

New Collection Point in Devonport

I’m thrilled to announce a new way for you to enjoy The Wild Crumb’s freshly baked goods. As of last week, I offer a collection point in Devonport every Friday between 5:00 and 5:15 pm.

If you live, work, or are passing through Devonport, you can place your order during the week and pick up your gluten-free breads, and other treats on your way home. This makes it easier for many of you to enjoy fresh, handmade products without traveling too far.

Here’s how it works:

  • Place your order online or via message during the week

  • Choose the Devonport Friday pickup option

  • Collect your order between 5:00 and 5:15 pm on Friday at the designated spot

This new option is designed to fit your busy schedule and make it more convenient to enjoy The Wild Crumb’s offerings.

Mobile Kitchen Build Underway

Perhaps the most exciting update is that my mobile kitchen build is now underway! This project has been a dream for a long time. The idea is to create a fully equipped kitchen on wheels that will allow me to bring freshly baked gluten-free goods directly to communities around the North West.

With the mobile kitchen, I’ll be able to:

  • Visit local markets and events

  • Serve customers in different towns

  • Share the joy of fresh, handmade gluten-free baking with more people

I can’t wait to bring the mobile kitchen home and start this new chapter. It will open up so many opportunities to connect with you all in person and share the delicious products I’m passionate about.

A Small Request for Help

Before I wrap up, I want to mention a challenge I’m facing. I’ve been having ongoing issues with Facebook and have hit a bit of a dead end. If anyone knows a Facebook expert or guru who might be able to help me troubleshoot, I would be incredibly grateful. Your support in this area would mean a lot.

Looking Ahead

Thank you again for being part of The Wild Crumb community. Your support makes everything possible. With the new wood heater, the return of sourdough baking, the Devonport collection point, and the mobile kitchen on the way, there are many exciting things ahead.

I look forward to sharing more recipes, stories, and freshly baked goods with you soon. Keep an eye out for updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to place an order or just say hello.

Together, we’re building something special — one loaf at a time.

Thank you all for being part of this journey.
